My family and I (wife, 3 kids- ages 7, 5, and 3) are planning our Summer vacation and we are looking for family resorts in the Midwest (we are in Chicago) where we can spend a week. We would like a place that offers plenty of kids activities and a lake with water sports. Nice to haves would be a American Plan, lake side cabin rentals, and motor boat rentals.
Thanks in advance,
Tim
Torch Lake is BEAUTIFUL!!! You should also look into Empire and Leelanau County. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park is located here. Beautiful scenery, vineyards, camping, cabins, hiking, … I could go on and on! I grew up in the area and have since moved away. If I could go back to one location it would be Leelanau County. The drive from Chicago can be very scenic as well. Follow the coastline and you’ll be treated to a mix of lighthouses, artsy small towns, and you could even stop in Mt. Pleasant for a visit to Michigan’s Adventure (an amusement/water park). Once you near Benzie County, the largest city nearby will be Traverse City. T.C. is located between Torch Lake and Leelanau Co.
I spent almost 30 years touring Michigan. If you prefer Wisconsin, Check out The Dells.
Best of luck and enjoy your trip!

i live in wisconsin, does anyone have any ideas of a place that will rent to a 20yr old……please spare me any sarcasm
you need a cosigner or "co driver" to be the primary renter and then they put you on as a driver.
My car was wrecked(not my fault) when I was 19 and I couldnt get a rental on my own. Despite me being an adult and the owner of the totaled car the insurance had my dad rent the car and then I was added as a driver.
As far as I know all major rental companies require you to be 21 but there may be a smaller non chain rental in your area or the area you are going to. Unfortunately your only option is to start calling.

I’m traveling to New York around mid August, which is in 3 weeks. I’ve been looking at renting a car to go up to Niagara Falls but the rates are outrageous at around $50 -$70 a night for a compact car! Anybody have any advice on getting a better deal? I’ve found cheaper rates for hotel stay than the rental car per day.
Do you want sone "great advice" on a "great deal" from a "great car rental pro?" Read the article found on the website below.
Ive searched all over the place online and all I can find are weekly, expensive vacation rentals. I know that there are some people who live there, so where in the world are they staying????????????????
Hi. Funny you should ask! I live on the Outer Banks myself and had the same problem when I was looking for a place. It’s tough to find something good that doesn’t cost over a grand a month here. Currently the best place to look is in a newspaper called "The Coastland Times". There’s also the "OB Sentinal" but it won’t have as much. You can also visit http://www.insiders.com/outerbanks/main-rentals3.htm#Heading12 for a listing of realty companies to rent long term rentals from. Good luck!
